Then the opportunity as Data Scientist in the Marginal Transactional Underwriting (MTU) team might just be the next step for you!


Team scope
The MTU team builds, owns, validates, and runs all profitability models for Klarna’s Payment Methods. This includes models for specific Profit & Loss line items. MTU is a fairly new team, but has already demonstrated significant business uplift and policy simplification, and the plan is to roll out its methodology of making decisions on profitability predictions at purchase time across all markets. The team has the market/product specific underwriting teams as their main customers. As a part of the Transactional Underwriting group within Payment Methods, MTU works closely together with the other teams in the group to optimize our underwriting across markets and products.


Data Scientist in MTU
As a Data Scientist in the MTU team, you will work in a cross-competence team and ensure that we deliver quality work and business impact. You will ensure high standards of model deliveries through process, governance, reviews, and collaboration with the customer teams, Transactional UW group, and team members. This will enable a smoooth rollout of MTU across payment products and markets and continuous optimization of live models, whilst leaving room for experimentation. We believe that a Data Scientist in the MTU team has good knowledge of data science/engineering best practices, tools, and modeling approaches. On a daily basis you will work with our ML pipeline (training/retraining models, development, and optimization), handling stakeholders/collaborators, and drive initiatives/projects. You will learn how to scope a modeling project and how the iterative process of an ML system helps bring business value to our internal customers and end customers. You will also learn how to balance the business needs of stakeholders with the technical capabilities required to keep up with Klarna's growth and high standards.
Do you have?
Minimum 3 years experience as Data Scientist
Knowledge and understanding of best practices of DS + Engineering
SQL, Python, Statistics + ML Pipeline experience
Business mindset with attention to stakeholders needs
