Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Soft Condensed Matter Theory

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, and welcomes over 2000 visits of scientists per year to carry out world-class research in a wide variety of scientific fields. Funded primarily by its three founder members: France, Germany and the United Kingdom, the ILL has also signed scientific collaboration agreements with 10 other countries. Our theory group currently has a vacancy:

Duties:
Working within our theory group, your research program will be focused on soft condensed matter theory and modeling (including applications to soft materials and biophysics). Of particular interest are projects in the field of polymer, biopolymers or protein modeling, but proposals in all fields of soft matter will be considered.
The successful candidate is expected to carry out a research program in broad relation to the experimental activities at the institute.

Qualifications and experience:
- PhD in physics, biophysics or physical chemistry.
- Strong background in theoretical soft matter and associated simulation methods.
- Knowledge of standard calculation methods (molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo).
- Knowledge appreciated in some of the following fields = modern parallelisation and programming methods (open MP, MPI.).

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
