2-3 PhD student positions in 'Dependability and predictable performance'.

Dependability and predictable performance of the systems are among the crucial concerns while adapting component based development paradigm for the embedded systems.Individual components have specific extra functional properties and requirements that can be violated when composed and deployed with other components and hence analysis techniques are needed to ensure predictable performance of the composed system.We are looking for 2-3 PhD students to work in the areas of modeling, analysis, and verification of the reliability and safety properties of component based systems.Offline and online mechanisms for error detection and fault containment also form part of the research agenda.

Admittance to the post-graduate education will be handled in conjunction with the employment procedure.In general anyone who has graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree with a major in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is eligible as graduate student in Computer Science and Engineering.Students with corresponding qualifications, for instance from similar programs at other universities, may also be admitted.

Required qualifications
For these specific positions the candidates should have a master degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or equivalent degree.Background knowledge in reliability analysis, markov modeling, automata theory, optimization techniques etc.will be considered as an additional merit.Competitive experiences from work in a real development organization or qualifications in relevant areas are positive.Mälardalen University applies positive action, giving priority to a person of under-represented sex (in this case women), when applicants are otherwise equal.
