Arbetsbeskrivning
Computational chemistry is an integrated part of the drug discovery process at AstraZeneca R&D where computational chemists work in multidisciplinary teams to assist in 'design make test'-cycle in drug-hunting projects as well as develop new methods and processes in the computational chemistry area. AstraZeneca R&D Mölndal has now two openings for Computational Chemists at CVGI Lead Generation and at DECS Computational Chemistry, respectively. Both positions are limited for one year. For the first position we are seeking for an individual who will be closely working with medicinal chemists in lead optimisation or lead generation projects and will also be interacting with specialists from DMPK and in vitro and in vivo pharmacology to aide the design of compounds and libraries with optimal properties. The successful candidate should be able to independently analyse and model screening data as well as build and verify predictive models using QSAR-, docking and pharmacophore techniques. The second position requires widespread knowledge in structure- and ligand based drug design, a good understanding of Cheminformatics plus working knowledge and skills with scripting and programming languages such as Python, Perl, C/C++.The successful candidate will be working in global projects and initiatives to enhance the lead generation process by applying and developing new computational chemistry solutions and processes, which involves a strong scientific drive, innovation and the ability to put new ideas into practice. Candidates will have a background in computational chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics or pharmacy through a related PhD and/or post-doctoral experience in pharmaceutical industry.Communication skills and a good team spirit are of great importance to us as well as taking initiative and focus on delivery while meeting the timelines and requirements in a multidisciplinary project.
