In this ever-evolving area of radio communications, Development Unit Radio has a unit responsible for securing future technology leadership: Systems & Technology. This responsibility includes radio technology strategy work, hardware and software research and test-beds to validate and demonstrate new technology. The Concepts & Standards group works with radio network standardization and concept development for mobile broadband and beyond, typically aiming at product implementation in 3-5 years. The work covers both existing and emerging radio access technologies (GSM, HSPA, LTE, LTE Advanced), and gives a superb insight into radio access concepts and products.

You will join a team that investigates and evaluates the technology and business potential of new radio network concepts.

Analysis methods may typically include the following:

- Study the new concept and identified use cases.
- Investigate pros and cons and evaluate performance of different solutions.
- Find opportunities to validate the concept in test-beds.
- File patent applications for new ideas when applicable.
- Estimate the cost structure for the new concept, put performance gains in relation to costs.
- Combine the results and formulate a recommendation for the concept, as basis for product decisions to take the concept into development processes.

Qualifications

- M.Sc. or equivalent
- Possibility to travel (~3-6 trips per year, ~1-4 days at a time)
- Strong analytical skills
- Genuine interest in radio access networks
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexible, self-motivated and result oriented
