At Volvo Product Creation & Quality (P&Q) you will be a key contributor to the 
next generation of outstanding luxury BEV vehicles from Volvo Cars. Together 
with other engineers around the world, you and your team will create innovative 
human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more 
enjoyable for people. 

Our group 97740, Electric Drive HW System, consists of 2 teams and about 
25 engineers, and we are still growing. We are responsible to optimize the 
electromagnetic design attributes into all electric machine (EM) concepts, 
such as PMSM, ASM and others, as well as testing and validating attributes until
fulfilment, in EM test rigs and vehicles.

efficiency and sustainability in our future products. 

As an Analysis Engineer in the Electric Drive Mechanical System (EDMS)
team, you will be responsible to carry out complete analyses and make 
conclusions of different electric machine concepts for BEV applications. This 
includes planning, preparation and implementation, test equipment setup, 
establish test methods, test protocol development, include new opportunities for
improvements, analyse and manage sampled data and results, and finally 
documentation and presentation related to the anticipated EM attributes. 

Today, in the EM test rigs, we use Puma and PA Tools as well as 
Matlab/Python/Concerto/Inca/IndiCom to progress our working results. 
And tomorrow, you may be the person, telling us, what’s coming next! 

Key for the role is your ability to analyse complex data and to relate this into 
electric machine attributes and functionality. We appreciate you to also 
contribute to next level of synergies actively, between 
CAE/testing/design/architects/supplier teams. Our ambition is to always be able 
to create and modify test scripts and test methods in an automatized testing 
processes for best practice, i.e. having a continuous integration (CI) perspective. 

All testing and analysing are concluded, reviewed, and documented in test 
reports, stored in a database, with conclusions and recommendations. 

A close co-operation within the team and across Vehicle Propulsion, labs and 
workshops is crucial, to enable the future implementation of the most desirable 
Electric Axle Drives propositions. 

You are supposed to actively act in an agile working environment, and to 
encourage for continuous backlog deliverables, related to each program 
increment (PI) priorities, to reach established and agreed team targets and 
solutions.

Required qualifications
• Good knowledge in Matlab, Python or similar tools, as well as previous rig 
testing (powertrain or similar) and raw data analysing experience.
• University degree M.Sc./B.Sc. within Electrical engineering, Mechatronics 
or similar.
• Electric machine experience or BEV system knowledge
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driving license B

• Agile way of working perspective

Meritorious 
Experience from Power electronics or ICE/HEV propulsion attribute 
development phases, as comparison to BEV.
CAE/CAD understanding, e.g. knowledge in JMAG, Ansys Maxwell, Catia etc.

You are comfortable with co-operating and to communicate with people on 
different levels in the organization, able to be independent and you have a 
business oriented and a flexible mind-set.
