Application Systems Engineer (Operator Analysis)

Main Purpose of Job ---------------------------------------------------------------- Working as a Senior Engineer, the job's main purpose is to provide a competent level of technical authority and analysis of one or more technical skill areas within the Operator Analysis Team.The main work area will be analysis of customer requirements and the specification and design of mobile telecoms applications Skills and experience -------------------------------------------------------------- 1.At least 3-8 years experience in a relevant communication engineering field preferably with experience in wireless mobile terminals engineering.2. Expert knowledge in mobile technology with a bias towards mobile systems, software and mobile applications.3.Ability to estimate project costs and manage systems tasks within defined budgetary and time parameters.4. Experienced in defining strategic plans to meet current and future business objectives for Client development groups.5. Be an effective communicator being able to clearly present complex ideas to large groups both internal and external to the company whilst demonstrating the ability to establish effective communication channels at all levels to maximize business impact.Key functions -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Under the guidance the jobholder is expected to perform (but is not limited to) the following tasks: 1.Take high level technical responsibility for Mobile Applications within the operator analysis group, to analyse the application requirements from network operators and other sources in order to produce designs for future mobile applications.2. Produce project requirements, high level designs and plans for mobile applications to be developed.3.Define requirements for Applications to be developed for the end products in context to the overall wireless communications system.4.Analyse and develop the application architecture required for the specific task or technical skill area, bringing together a range of system facts to overcome specific problems.5. Provision of expert information on mobile telecom regulatory issues, as well as on external specifications relating to systems and applications being developed.6. Monitoring and influencing changes to the requirements in external specifications that are relevant to the specified application development activities.
