Applications Engineer - MATLAB

Job Summary In this role you will work directly with customers to 1) understand their real engineering and business challenges and 2) to help them understand how to apply our products to their problems. The primary responsibility of this position is to work with sales personnel in managing the technical aspects of the sales process directed primarily at customers interested in technical computing with the MATLAB family of products, see http://www.mathworks.com/applications/tech_computing/. The Applications Engineer is responsible for demonstrating his/her knowledge during sales meetings, conference calls, through the delivery of public seminars, and in the development of complex product demonstrations. This position also requires that the Applications Engineer is able to work with existing "power users" to answer their questions and assist them in the most efficient and proper use of MathWorks products once deployed. The Technical Computing Application Engineer will work closely with MATLAB users to address technical issues regarding the adoption and integration of MATLAB into customers' computing environments. The MathWorks products allow engineers and scientists to accelerate their research, reduce development times and deliver better products. Key tasks that define this role are: * Provide technical pre-sales support and guidance to The MathWorks Nordic Sales organization * Help sales representatives understand and synthesize customer requirements and explain the features and capabilities of our products and related third-party products relative to customer needs * Prepare and deliver product presentations to customers and prospects * Develop demonstration programs, application examples, and simulation models * Analyze user problems to determine and implement the best computational approach * Help customers solve specific problems using MATLAB and appropriate toolboxes * Provide feedback of your finding from customer interaction to our development and marketing organization Qualifications * This person should possess an advanced degree in Math, Science, or Engineering and have experience in performing technical computing tasks with MATLAB. * Very strong knowledge of (and enthusiasm for!) MATLAB is essential; experience with a broad set of MathWorks products is a plus. * The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to perform computational analysis, modelling, and simulation tasks and be able to discuss how our products are used to solve engineering and business problems. * It is desirable to have programming experience, besides MATLAB. * Broad mathematical skills in areas such as statistics, optimisation, linear algebra is also a plus. * The position requires proficiency in the delivery of presentations and excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Candidates should be interested in working directly with customers to help them understand how to apply our products to their problems. * Because of the geographic focus of this position the majority of the traveling will happen throughout the Nordic countries. * Fluency in Swedish and English.
