As part of our ambitions, Chalmers seeks curious and creative individuals to join us as tenure-track Assistant Professors. We are looking for candidates with innovative research ideas who seek scientific freedom to pursue their aspirations.

A four-year tenure track position is provided with a generous start-up package, relocation support, mentoring, and leadership training to further your development as research leader and teacher. Through our cross-departmental Areas of Advance, you will have the opportunity to find collaborations and grow networks both within the university and with our industrial and societal partners.

Basic Science: Pushing the boundaries of knowledge
Basic Science is the groundwork of research and provides the foundation for progress in many fields. It addresses nature’s most fundamental questions and is driven by curiosity and the urge to understand the underlying principles, laws, and forces that govern the world around us.

Chalmers will recruit up to seven assistant professors within Basic Science. The successful candidates are expected to play a key role in advancing our understanding of the world and should be able to connect to aspects of our existing research while adding distinctive new perspectives.

Research and education in Basic Science at Chalmers address fundamental questions in astronomy, biology, chemistry, computing science, earth and climate science, mathematics, and physics.

Within and across these fields, we provide innovative solutions, tackle the most important frontiers, and strive to push the boundary of knowledge. Supported by this vision, our ambition is to perform world-leading research aiming at ground-breaking discoveries.

Conducting research at Chalmers provides great opportunities for cross-disciplinary and international work, as well as for collaboration with the nearby University of Gothenburg within an excellent overall research environment in Gothenburg.
