AstraZeneca: Senior Scientist, Cellular Assay Development

Discovery Science is a global function within Innovative Medicines, IM, in AstraZeneca. Discovery Science supports innovative medicine project teams from multifunctional capability centers in Alderley Park, Boston and Mölndal. Discovery Sciences is mainly involved in early lead generation through the late Lead optimization stage of drug discovery. It is composed of several capabilities where Reagent and Assay Development (RAD) is one among several others such as Screening Sciences and Structure & Biophysics. This position will be placed in the RAD Department where we focus on delivering different types of reagents and assays for high impact into the drug development.

For an assignment (1 year +) at AstraZeneca we are now looking for candidates with an interest and profile related to the description below.

The role
To be lab-based, providing strong expertise in the competency of Cell Science, propose experimental strategies, troubleshoot problems and to make a significant contribution to the practical delivery of projects in accordance with SHE requirements and in compliance with all AZ Corporate responsibility policies.

This role should be a technical specialist in the Cell Science area, more practically based, keep methods running efficiently, good at troubleshooting methods, put ideas into practice, provide support/supervision and coaching to scientists employing key methodologies, ensure that methods are run efficiently & correctly, help and guide set-up of new methodologies.

Who are you?
You should have a Ph. D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline with several years of relevant experience in drug discovery and/or early development or alternatively a first degree and extensive relevant additional experience in drug discovery and early development.

In this role you should have understanding of how the drug discovery process functions within discovery. You should be able to understand how the different disciplines contribute to the discovery projects. You also should also be able to represent your discipline in a cross-disciplinary project team.
