Dear Au Pair Applicant, I'm glad to have this opportunity to tell you about our family, and we're excited to get to know you.We have four people in our family -- Diane (the Mom), Joe (the Dad), Melinda, our daughter, who will be 9 in October, and Robert, our son, who will be 1 in September.Because of the seven-year gap in age between our two kids, we're looking for an Au Pair who loves being with children and is knowledgeable about their needs but who also enjoys hanging out with older children.And we're looking for an au pair who is both responsible and flexible.We're a fun, easy-going family to be around.Our home is sunny, colorful and comfortable.It's clean, but it's not super neat.Sometimes we like to embark on adventures - like going to a museum, beach or amusement park - and other times we like to stay in.We would welcome you in our home and consider you part of our family while also respecting your privacy.We think that open, honest, straightforward communication will be the best way for us to get to know one another.We love Park Slope, our friendly, beautiful Brooklyn neighborhood and like to introduce others to its many wonderful facets.We think it has to be one of the best places to be an au pair in the United States, because the city's public transportation system allows you a lot of independence and because there are so many other au pairs to become friends with. I'd like to tell you a little bit about Melinda.She's a great kid, sometimes silly and sometimes serious.She likes rock climbing and art.She'll climb anything pretty much.And she loves to draw and sculpt.If you're the kind of person who is comfortable taking out some art supplies and making something she'll be as happy as a clam.
