Au Pair/Chappaqua, New York

We have been married for 13 years and have lived in Chappaqua for 8 years.We are a close family of five.I have stayed at home with the children since Matthew was born. Christopher is almost 13 and is finishing the seventh grade at the local middle school.He is an outgoing and active boy.The neighborhood is filled with young boys, including a number of other thirteen-year olds.He is an enthusiastic reader, and plays the guitar and saxophone.He likes the outdoors and nature, and likes to swim, ride his bicycle and skateboard, and play baseball and tennis.Matthew is eight and is finishing third grade.Matthew loves to read and play the trumpet and piano.He likes to ride his bicycle and scooter and play with his friends.He loves to follow the older boys and to be included in their play.Christopher is a good older brother and often includes Matthew despite the age difference.Sussy is 3 1/2 years old.We adopted Sussy from Korea.She is a very active little girl.She loves to play outside, go to gymnastics class, and most especially, try to keep up with the boys.Sussy goes to nursery school four mornings a week and loves to be busy at school with her friends. Both of us are from large families, and we are very close to them.We spend a good deal of our free time with family, as most of our extended family is in the New York metropolitan area.We also spend time exploring nature preserves, parks, and historical sights in the area as a family.We also love to enjoy good food and to cook.Our house is a spacious five-bedroom house.We have a good-sized yard and live at the end of our street so that there is little traffic in front of our house.We also have a deck in the back of our house for eating out-of-doors in the warmer months.We have a small swing set and a trampoline in our yard.We like having an au pair stay with us because while we do not need full-time help, we like to have someone to help us manage our schedule more easily.We think that our situation is a good one for an au pair because the hours are more flexible than in the situation where both parents are working full-time.An au pair would be working alongside us to care for the children, and would never provide childcare alone for 45 hours a week. We like to expose our children to more of the world around them, since we do live in a fairly homogeneous and privileged environment.It is nice to have someone from a different country share its view of the world with us, and for us to show that person our community.
