Au Pair/Chicago.

I am a single mom and an only child, so we have little close extended family except for my mom, who is almost 80 and lives in Florida.I have worked as a lawyer for the federal government for 25 years.Right now I work for the Department of Health and Human Services practicing Medicare and Medicaid law.I will move from Washington, DC: to the regional office in Chicago this August, and we expect that our au pair will be moving with us from the Washington, DC area to a close-in Chicago suburb.I have lived in Washington for 28 years, and have never lived in the Midwest, so our au pair will be joining us on an adventure (and hopefully get to see a little of Washington before leaving).We don't know Chicago well and plan to have lots of fun exploring the city when I'm not working.I grew up in New York City and have always lived around big cities, so the chance to learn a new one is exciting.We also hope to make many new friends through my new job, her new school, and our new synagogue.But we do not yet have a "network" there and don't know many people outside my office, so it is important that our au pair realize this and not think that she will be joining a big extended family.It's really just us.The good part of this is that she will truly be an important member of our family for that year, learning with us, living with us in a family bedroom and, if she chooses, exploring with us.I think we're a pretty informal and flexible family.Good manners and caring for others are very important values to me, but I hate unnecessary rules and try not to make them.Life is too short.I also try not to make threats I won't carry out and in general to be pretty consistent.I'm not sure I always succeed I would hope that an au pair would share these values.I don't, however, expect our au pair to be just like us or even to share our interests.One of the benefits of having a new person in the family is for us to learn about, as well as teach, new things.We are looking forward to that!Du får alltid eget boende, 2 veckors betald semester, $500-$1000 dollar i studiemedel beroende på au pairtjänst.Flygbiljett t & r om du arbetar ett år.Visum för 13 månader.13:e månaden kan du resa runt i USA på egen hand eller genom Track America.Vi har ett ombud på platsen där du bor, som hjälper dig till rätta i din vardag och presenterar dig för andra ungdomar i området.Tillträde: Hösten -06 Ålder: 18 - 26 år.
