Our family of five includes our two daughters, ages 18 and 15, and our 13 year old son.Charles and I have been married for nearly 25 years.Both of us are active volunteers in our community and our children are well aware of the importance of helping others.Sandy attends Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.Laura and John attend a private school 1 ½ miles from our house.Kids' sports are an important part of our lives.Laura is our resident soccer star, and John plays baseball and ice hockey with a passion.When our family isn't participating in sports, we love to attend professional sporting events.As you can probably guess, our schedule is quite hectic between school, practices and games, not to mention social activities and getting homework done.We enjoy this neighborhood so much that when we outgrew our old house, we built a new one just down the block!Our single-family home is 12 years, old, designed and built by us.The routine for our Au Pair generally begins by driving the children to school (7:30 or so) and picking them up at the end of the school day.A primary responsibility is carpooling to/from after-school activities, tidying the children's rooms (with their assistance, hopefully), laundering, helping with the grocery shopping and meal preparation, (primarily for the children, but perhaps helping to put together the family meal, as well, if we are lucky enough to get an au pair who cooks!).I expect the au pair to help keep the house "broom clean" (loading and unloading the dishwasher, sweeping the kitchen floor, wiping down the counters, etc.), but I am not expecting "heavy" housework, as there is a cleaning lady who comes weekly.Organizational skills area must to keep all the schedules straight!We have enjoyed our past au pair experiences.Our Au pairs have come from England, South Africa, Norway, Germany and Poland.During my childhood, my family was host to many foreign exchange students.One summer, I traveled to Europe and lived with a family in Austria, and during college, I attended Richmond College through AIFS (the company which operates Au Pair in America) and then lived in a private home while attending school in Paris.The cultural exchange which takes place is valuable for both the host family and the visitor.We are quite proud of Chicago, its lakefront, architectural monuments, the arts and the friendliness of its residents, and we warmly invite an Au Pair to share in all of this with us.Tillträde: Vintern -06 Ålder: 18 - 26 år.
