Au Pair/Detroit

We are a family of four children aged 5-14 and my husband and myself.We have been happily married for 16 years and have hosted au pairs for 13 years.Our oldest two children are boy/ girl twins who will be 15 this summer.They are very kind and conscientious young adults who also now baby-sit their younger siblings.The children are all very active socially, in school and in sports.They also attend two different private schools at four different campuses it all, straight and driving them everywhere they need to go.The au pair also helps take care of the child. We live on a beautiful lake and a golf course about 20 miles north of Detroit, so swimming ability is important.There are many diverse opportunities for cultural events, sports, theater, symphony, opera, pop concerts, etc.There are also numerous schools and colleges offering a broad array of educational opportunities.The entire family is athletically inclined.We all either ski or snowboard, hike, play golf, soccer, basketball, dance, lacrosse, karate, etc.We don't all do all of those things.Each child has his or her favorite sports and many of them go on simultaneously.Chris sings in a school choir, dances jazz and ballet and plays lacrosse. We also have a second home in Telluride, Colorado, which is where we ski and mountain climb.We spend a few weeks there in the summer and again, in the winter.It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.We do like to travel and offer opportunities for the au pair to travel with us.Now that the children are older and more self sufficient, we don't need the au pairs help on trips like we did when they were younger.However, we have found that our au pairs usually like to go with us whenever they can.This year we are also traveling to Texas.It is important to us that the au pair feel that it is a member of the family, and the best way to have a successful year is to openly and honestly communicate with each other.We do provide a car for the au pair's local driving, a lake front private room and bath, and many opportunities to enrich the au pairs stay while with us.Our current and previous au pair are both from Sweden and I'm sure would be happy to share information about their experience with our family.We look forward to welcoming you into our home and, our lives!Tillträde: Hösten -08 Fri resa och sjukförsäkring ingår (värde 5800:-) om du har en komplett ansökan före den 31 juli 2008.Gäller vid avresa till USA under 2008.Eget boende, betald semester.Studiemedel 500-1000 dollar.Hemreseskydd vid allvarlig familjesituation.4 dagars kurs i NY innan ankomst till familjen.Regelbundna Au Pairmöten i USA.Vi gör regelbundna intervjuer på orter runt om i Sverige.
