Dear Au Pair To Be, We are two parents - Teresa and Pete and two children -Rodger and Bonnie.Rodger is almost 14 years old and will be starting high school (9th grade) this fall.Bonnie is 9 1/2 and will be entering the 4th grade of our neighborhood elementary school.Pete and Teresa both work in the field of public health.Pete works in New York City at Columbia University and Harlem Hospital, and Teresa works for an international organization in the nearby town of Westport.Teresa travels overseas several times each year.Our lives are quite full, balancing work obligations, family, friends and after-school activities.Teresa travels to Washington DC for 1-2 day trips at least once each month; she also travels overseas for trips lasting a week to 10 days, every 2-3 months.During those trips, you will need to helps a bit more as he keeps the routine going!On some evenings (rarely more than 2-3 times a month), we would need you to stay with the kids.During the summer months, there will be weeks where the children are at home and will need more. Although our free time is limited, we enjoy a great many activities whenever we can.We especially like outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, camping and picnicking.We spend our vacations visiting family in California, and usually spend a week somewhere in New England such as Cape Cod or Vermont.We also visit friends and family in Boston and Maryland.Bonnie is involved in drama; soccer and music; Rodger plays soccer, baseball, basketball and is learning to play the piano. Fairfield is a quiet suburb in the state of Connecticut, about one hour by train from New York City.We have a comfortable home, located on a salt marsh, which has a nice view and some wildlife.You will have your own room that is upstairs with all of our rooms.The homes in our neighborhood are fairly close together, which means there are always friendly neighbors close by.There are several other host families with au pairs nearby, and a nice group of au pairs in this town as well as neighboring towns.There are good movie theaters, bookstores, and the city is not far away.There is an affordable gym, and nice places to run and bicycle if you like to exercise.There are a number of small universities close by for taking classes.There are a couple of town beaches here as well.We hope this gives you some idea of what it would be like to live here: Most au pairs find it quiet at first, but as you make friends and find your way around, there are rewarding things to do and most people seem to adjust well.If you have questions, we are happy to provide any information that you need to feel prepared for your year in the USA.We look forward to speaking with you soon.Tillträde: Hösten/Vintern -06 Ålder: 18 - 26 år.
