Au Pair/Great Falls, VA.

We live in Great Falls, Virginia which is within proximity to Washington, D.C.Both Mikeal and Lucie commute into to D.C.We are an active family and the kids participate in many sports including lacrosse, soccer, hockey, dance, gymnastics and riding.The kids are good natured and full of energy and curiosity.Our au pair helps them get ready for school and takes them to activities after school.The typical schedule is 7-5 Monday through Thursday and half a day on Friday.Once or twice a month our au pair will watch the children on a weekend night.But our schedule is not always predictable and we need our au pair to be very flexible as the regular working hours have some variation.We treat our au pairs with respect and expect the same in return.Our experience in having five previous au pairs has led us to have certain rules for our au pair's benefit and ours.We have a car for our au pair to transport the children and to get around herself, but we expect it home every night by midnight.On weekends when our au pair is not working our au pair is free to stay out as late as she chooses, but the car must be home by midnight.On nights before a work day, we ask that you come home by midnight.We view the car as a privilege that can be revoked if our rules are disregarded or it is not properly cared for.This leads me to the next section on information about our family: Both my husband and I recently accepted positions in New York City and decided to move to a town much closer to the city, so that our commutes would be shorter.Another reason we are moving is our desire to be in an eclectic, multi-racial, multi-ethnic, socio-economically diverse community.Montclair is a great community that has something for everyone, a suburban community that is very similar to Manhattan's upper west side.They have an excellent public school system as well as two institutions of higher learning.Unlike other suburban communities that we know, Montclair is a very pedestrian-friendly town.People also appear to be friendly and open.I (Lisa) like a tidy house, so I expect everyone to help maintain an orderly and tidy home.We would want to know if our au pair planned to have guests visiting the home.A key thing that works in our family is open communication.When we get home from work, the au pair will generally be officially off duty.Other than that, we do not have rules that are set in stone.We believe in working things out with people in a joint and cooperative fashion.We have found that that model is a successful one for us.Du får alltid eget boende, 2 veckors betald semester, $500-$1000 dollar i studiemedel beroende på au pairtjänst.Flygbiljett t & r om du arbetar ett år.Visum för 13 månader.13:e månaden kan du resa runt i USA på egen hand eller genom Track America.Vi har ett ombud på platsen där du bor, som hjälper dig till rätta i din vardag och presenterar dig för andra ungdomar i området.Tillträde: Hösten/vintern -06 Ålder: 18 - 26 år.
