Dear Prospective Au Pair: Greeting from the Alwen family!We are a loving and energetic family with three children and two dogs.We live in Greenwich, Connecticut, a beautiful suburb 25 miles east of New York City.Our town has an enormous amount to offer from beaches, nature preserves, 4 amazing libraries, two movie theaters as well as a quick 45minute train ride to New York City.We are looking for an au pair who knows what it means to be in a busy family and has experience with older children.Since our children are in school during the day, the hours are mostly in the afternoon and evening.That would allow the au pair to enjoy going to classes during the day.Driving is a big part of the position, so you would have to feel totally confident with that, we, of course will give you lots of information on the area before you are asked to drive the children.We are an active family & full of life.We have had three au pairs in the past and they have all continued to be close family friends.We are both very involved in our church community.We have many friends and a large extended family that we are very close to.Rebecca, our daughter that will be 14 in October, is mature for her age.She is going to a Catholic girl's school and is a very competent student.She is very well read, loves academics and is full of life.She is in some ways a typical teenager and in some ways mature beyond her years.She has a gift for art of all kinds- drawing & photography especially.She can run like the wind and loves tennis & windsurfing. Eric 11, our only son, often feels like he is surrounded by women, so his boy friends are very important to him.He is a sensitive boy with a great laugh and a shy disposition until you get to know him (then he is not shy at all).Sometimes he gets frustrated with schoolwork, but he does very well academically.He is almost a black belt in karate and plays squash (a racquet sport indoors). Leanne, 8, is adorable, happy and loving.She enjoys her friends, arts & crafts and cooking "experiments".She also is learning how to tap dance and ice skate.She is at the same school Eric.She enjoys getting special attention and loves to dress up in costumes and be an actress.A typical day for the au pair would start at around 3:00pm with an after school pick up and then drive one child to an activity.Later in the afternoon there would be homework time for the kids and the au pair could either help with that or prepare the dinner.
