Au Pair/New Rochelle, NY

One might say our family was formed from a series of cross-cultural exchanges, so it is only natural that we continue the trend with an au pair.He was visiting from France and staying with a friend in New York who had been an exchange student in Paris when she met him.She asked if I would take him out because I was the only one she knew who spoke French -- I too had lived in France as an exchange student and in Senegal as a Peace Corps volunteer.We want to afford them the opportunity to experience at least two languages and cultures.Paul speaks to her in French and I speak to her in English, and we sing and read to her in both languages.An au pair enriches that experience.We live in New Rochelle, New York, which is a suburb of New York City.It is a safe, family-oriented neighborhood with several young children and a big community of au pairs in the area.We live within walking distance of the train station -it takes 29 minutes to get to New York City.Right now, I work in New York and am happy to loan our au pair my train pass so that the au pair can go into New York on the weekends for free.We have renovated our basement so it is perfectly set up for the comfort of our au pair.There is a separate entrance and a separate bathroom for her private use.The au pair also has its own TV (with cable) and its own living room.Of course, the au pair is free to use any part of the house, but we understand that sometimes the au pair will want privacy and its own space.Paul is a physical therapist (kinesetherapeute in French) and I work for Fordham University as a communications director.I am going to school one night a week to obtain a Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and I will be happy to help you as you improve your English.We both enjoy walking, going to the beach, going to the movies and eating good meals, which often include French cheeses.We have hosted two au pairs in the past, and many international guests, and we will be happy to show you around and help you get acclimated in the U.S.We will treat you as part of the family, not as an "employee" and we would respect your privacy and cultural differences.In short, I think we would be a great host family, and I hope that we can find a great au pair.Tillträde: Hösten -08 Fri resa och sjukförsäkring ingår (värde 5800:-) om du har en komplett ansökan före den 31 juli 2008.Gäller vid avresa till USA under 2008.Eget boende, betald semester.Studiemedel 500-1000 dollar.Hemreseskydd vid allvarlig familjesituation.4 dagars kurs i NY innan ankomst till familjen.Regelbundna Au Pairmöten i USA.Vi gör regelbundna intervjuer på orter runt om i Sverige.
