Au Pair/New York.

We live 20 minutes from New York City, in a small town with tree-lined streets. He works about half time from an office in our house, and half in New York City.Weekends we are generally together, either at home, or at our vacation home about two hours away on Shelter Island.Sometimes we jump in the car and go exploring with the kids to a nearby state or a site we've never seen.Of course, an au pair would be welcome, but not required, to join us on weekend trips.Zac is a very bright and verbal 3rd grader, who speaks and understands Spanish quite well.Link is warm and funny, and seems eager and ready to begin kindergarten in September.The local elementary school, which both boys will attend, is a 10-minute walk or short drive.On most days we like to take the kids to school in the mornings ourselves, to get them started on their day.On every day but Monday, our au pair will be responsible for picking up the children from school at 3:00 PM.In the summer we will spend several weeks on vacation in Shelter Island where we have a summerhouse by a beautiful lake and beaches, and where we will also spend occasional weekends and holidays in all seasons.We would love to share this beautiful place with an au pair, and have a spare room and bathroom she could use.But there is no pressure for the au pair to join us.We have plenty of room in our house and a perfect, private space for an au pair to live.It is on the third floor, the au pair will have a bedroom and bathroom to herself.The windows look out over gardens and trees in neighboring backyards.Everyone who sees it says it's pretty charming.We both speak Spanish, but don't expect good grammar!Allison believes it is a great experience for young people to go live and work in other countries, because she did and it opened up the world for her.At 18 she lived in Denmark for a summer as an exchange student, and at 21 she studied and taught school in East Africa.In recent years, working and raising two young children, we have had fewer opportunities for travel abroad.But we hope our children will come to appreciate that there are many countries, cultures and points-of-view in the world.That is one of the reasons we look forward to hosting an au pair.Tillträde: Hösten -07 Eget boende, betald semester.Studiemedel 500-1000 dollar.Inga kostnader för flyg om du arbetar ett år som au pair.Visum för 13 månader.Försäkring ingår.Hemreseskydd vid allvarlig familjesituation.4 dagars kurs i NY innan ankomst till familjen.Vi gör regelbundna intervjuer på orter runt om i Sverige.
