Au Pair/New York City

In many ways we are a typical American family with 3 kids and a dog.Sarah is 11 and in 6th grade.She enjoys reading, music, theater, hiking, piano and various sports.Daniel is 9 and in 4th grade.He is interested in football, baseball, soccer, brass band, science and history.Ella is 7 and in 2nd grade.She likes to play with friends, arts/crafts, hiking, shopping for shoes and being with her family.The dog, Snow, is the children's constant friend and companion.She's a young golden retriever who loves to be outside a lot. We all sail, snorkel, ski, hike, play tennis and engage in many other snorts that our past au pairs have enjoyed with us.We have more than one "residence" as the children attend a private school in New York City.During the week, we are often in our New York City apartment on the upper eastside of Manhattan to facilitate play dates and other school activities.At other times, the house in a near Westchester suburb of New York is our base.For recreation, we have a ski house in Vermont and a beach house in Florida.The children and we, as parents, have friends and activities in both places. As you might guess, we are an active family and fairly social.The kids will often arrange "dinner parties" with friends and assist in our "adult" parties, which we like to have.We also like to travel and be outside.Traveling in particular is a passion of ours.We plan at least two big trips each year in addition to long weekends away. Although we like to spend as much time with the kids as possible, their father, works very hard at his growing real estate development company and I, their mother, am by profession an attorney.I am starting to work more and more in the business in addition to seeking a graduate degree in real estate finance.Thus, we try to maintain as much family time as possible with a lot of outside help including full time housekeeper and drivers.The au pair will fill a vital role of enabling the kids to do fun and necessary activities when we can't be there. We are looking for someone who is fun and loving and active and is up for adventure!Flexibility and ability to work with others really helps.We anticipate our au pairs to make friends and have fun outside the family, too.In each of our houses, our au pairs have their own bedroom and bathroom.We also maintain a separate phone line for them, but they share the family computer or use the one at the public library.
