Au Pair/Ridgefield, NY.

We're a family of four - six if you count the two dogs.Matt the father, is 46, a lawyer, and works in New York City.It's a long day - he leaves early and comes home late, but rarely goes into the office on the weekends.Matt works with many people of similar age with young children, and there's a real focus at the office on keeping the family a high priority and the job in proper perspective.Except for the times when Matt is out of town or working on a deadline, he is often able to share important events in his children's lives that occur during the week, and always on the weekends.Linda, the mother, is the program coordinator for a major philanthropic organization in Westport, Connecticut.She's also, 46, and recently returned to work full time after taking a professional hiatus to raise the children.Linda works about 40 minutes from home, which allows her to continue to take a very active role in her children's lives.Oscar 14, is the older child.He's starting high school in the fall, and will be attending the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering in Stamford, which is about 40 minutes from home.AITE is a public magnet high school far students with a particular interest in web based technology and engineering.Oscar plays soccer, is a teacher's aide and tutor two days a week at our temple's Hebrew school, loves the computer and likes to read.He's also very interested in history, the military and aviation -- his favorite television station is the history channel.Tina is 11, and will be entering the 7th grade in September.Tina loves arts and crafts of all kinds, especially pottery.She's been learning to use a potter's wheel and is very creative.She also likes to draw, paint and color - anything artistic.Tina also takes violin lessons at school, and gymnastics classes 3 times a week.This year, she was chosen as a member of an all star competition team in gymnastics.Our experience with other cultures as a family is limited, although both parents have traveled abroad, Matt has lived in Europe.Linda has spent time in Mexico & Israel (with relatives as well) and we have traveled to foreign countries together as a family.We also have family friends from foreign countries and welcome the opportunity to host a foreigner as part of the au pair program.Our home is modest by Ridgefield standards, not so by proper perspective.We live on a 2 acre lot in a pretty area & are set back from the main roads.Our au pair would have a private room, not too far from the main area of the house & would have use of our full guest bathroom.
