Au Pair/Washington, DC

We are looking for a new au pair - whoever joins our host family will be joining a family in the Washington, DC metropolitan area (we are in the first suburb outside of DC) that has had four successful years with au pairs. Charles works on Capitol Hill.Carla works for a multinational corporation, in Information Technology.Charles commutes to work downtown on the metro system (the metro station is walking distance from our house).Both parents work full time hours, and we depend on our au pair to take the boys to and from school as well as to their after-school activities.Our au pair also has to be able to help the boys with their homework.In 4th grade, Aidan will have significant amounts of homework - our au pair should work with him to make sure that he writes clearly and that he shows his work in his advanced math class.Scott will have much less homework in 1st grade.She should also work with both of the boys as they practice their piano lessons.Even if she doesn't have a musical background, she can encourage them and offer positive reinforcement as well as gentle correction.Our sons are very active boys.They participate in sports activities 3 days/week at the community center near their school.Our au pair picks them up at school, walks them to the community center, does homework with them and prepares a snack for them, and then waits while they have their sports classes.Their piano lessons, once/week, are at the same community center.The boys' day begins at 7:00 and ends around 8:00 pm.They are in school all day.Our au pair prepares their lunches, takes them to school, takes them to activities, often prepares their dinner, and occasionally puts them to bed.We like our au pair to plan on babysitting 1-2 weekend nights/month so that we can go on a "date." Generally, our au pairs work 5-6 hours/day.
