AV_SW Engineer

Job Description: Senior Software Engineer or Software Engineer - Audio Visual Main Purpose of Job Digital Television is a rapidly evolving technology that will change the way that we live and interact with broadcast and interactive digital media.Client Electronics Research Institute are seeking high calibre Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers that are able to contribute ideas and reshape the future of Digital Television.As an Engineer you will be using an object orientated design methodology (UML) to convey your designs and ideas in conjunction with embedded C++ to realise your design. Key functions --------------------------------------- 1.Sub-system design with UML.2.Implementation, integration and testing of software modules at different levels within the software stack, i.e.from the high level application layer down to the drivers interfacing to the hardware.This requires an existing broad knowledge base which shall be called upon to deal with different classes of problem.3.Contribute to work from both internal design specifications and international standards.Internal documentation is generated with standard Microsoft Office tools.4.Provide advice to the line manager and / or project managers for project planning and budgeting etc. Skills and experience ---------------------------------------------------- 1.Between 2 - 8 years experience (dependent on level) of real-time and/or embedded software development (ideally digital TV or video related).2.Proven skills in C/C++ in an embedded multi-tasking system are essential.3.Knowledge and experience of embedded Operating Systems (i.e.pSOS, VxWorks, UNIX/Linux etc.).4.Experience in set-top-box development and DVB/ATSC Television standards are very desirable but are not essential.
