The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan is looking for Midwifery Trainer Advisor. Posted in Afghanistan The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) is a non-governmental humanitarian organisation working with aid to Afghanistan since 1982, mainly with support to the education, health and disability sectors. Since operations began in the early 1980s, emergency aid has gradually evolved into long-term development programmes. With over 6,000 staff, SCA is one of the largest non-governmental organisations in the country. Through its activities, SCA aims at fighting poverty, supporting economic and social development and strengthening democratic development and gender & human rights. Scope of Work SCA implements two Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) projects in the provinces of Wardak and Paktika. In Wardak SCA is moreover responsible for a Community Midwife Training (CMT) School. Capacity building is among the important strategic pillars of the SCA Health Programme and the CMT Programme continues to provide the rural areas with the most needed skilled birth attendants. Meanwhile, SCA endeavours to provide the expertise required to uplift the quality of the training, to build stronger training platforms and coach and support the Afghan trainers so as to enable them to effectively assume their responsibility towards the CMT Programme. The MTA is seconded to Wardak Province by the Health Technical Unit (HTU) at the Kabul Management Office and will be responsible for providing technical support, guidance and supervision to the CMT School with the assistance of experienced Community Midwife trainers. The MTA's main focus will be on further developing the school according to laid down policies by the National Midwifery Accreditation Board as well as to develop classroom and clinical instructions, management, and training materials. The MTA will also assist in linking and strengthening SCA Mother and Child Health activities by assisting in the deployment of midwives in health facilities and by conducting follow-up missions with the aim to measure their progress and development. While on secondment to the BPHS project, the MTA will provide BPHS managers with regular technical reports and will participate in relevant management meetings in relation to the BPHS. Qualifications: . A certified midwife with 10 years experience in midwifery Experience: . Specialized experience in midwifery training . Experience from work in a post-conflict environment an advantage . Experiences of work in Muslim countries an advantage Others: . Demonstrated project management skills, acquired in a challenging multicultural environment . Ability to take initiatives, innovate and pursue work proactively . Demonstrated skills in training and coaching staff at different levels within an organisation . Ability to travel frequently to project offices within Afghanistan and adjust to difficult and basic living conditions . Excellent command of English is a must, Swedish and Dari is an advantage .
