Climate change is the ultimate safety test. Therefore, we at Volvo Cars are committed to going fully electric by 2030 and mastering the batteries is one of the main keys for us to success! We have taken a big step towards our aim by launching our first Battery Electric Vehicle, the XC40 P8 Recharge. It is powered by an in-house designed battery developed by our great battery team in Gothenburg, do you want to be part of the next step? We are now working on a new electric vehicle platform and several exciting products that will be powered by batteries designed and developed in-house.

Where You’ll Belong
Are you a Battery Engineer with focus on quality and safety who enjoy cross-functional work? Do you like to be close to battery hardware, cell development and battery system testing? Then the role as a Battery System Engineer in the Battery System Design team is the perfect opportunity for you!

We are a highly skilled and diverse team with a wide range of competencies, which in combination with cross-functional work, enables fast learning and growth. In this role you will develop your technical as well as leadership skills.

Your Contribution
You are the one who leads cross-functional work to really find out the root causes of field problems and work proactively to stop them from happening in the first place. By being part of analysis work and by actively seeking knowledge you ensure that we keep updated on the fast development of battery safety.

You will work on several different projects from the early development phase to the aftermarket. You will lead investigations and be a go-to person for battery-system related matters. You will be surrounded by experts at component level (e.g battery cell) and legal requirements development. The work is done in close collaboration with the team members, product owner, scrum master, team manager and test engineers. 

Competence is Important
We see that you have a master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemistry, Mechatronics, Fire Safety Engineering or similar. In terms of experience, we see that you have either experience from working with battery systems or from similar work in another domain of the automotive industry. 

Experience in the Automotive or high voltage electronics industry is an advantage.

Personality is Key
You share our passion for future technology and have the ability to understand complex systems, with good attention to detail. You also possess great communication skills that enable you to lead different teams and drive the work in your area. Together we aim to develop ground-breaking technical solutions!
