The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. Job assignment

The scientist will analyze human postmortem brain tissue in a study aiming at identifying changes in gene and protein expression levels of factors involved in the regulation of emotion, metabolism and sleep in the neurodegenerative Huntington disease.

Identified targets will be further investigated in genetic animal models of the disease.

The work includes performance of qRTPCR, Western Blot, alphalisa, immunohistochemistry, stereology as well as stereotactic injections of viral vectors and behavioral analyses of rodents.

The scientist will also be in charge of statistical analyses and reporting of the data with preparation of figures and scientific articles.

Qualifications

- PhD on Huntington disease.

- Postdoctoral period in laboratory with a focus on studies on Huntington disease. 

- Several original publications on Huntington disease in international peer-reviewed journals. 

- Expertise in the field of autophagy. 

- Expertise in techniques such as PCR, QRT-PCR, Western Blot as well as assay development.

- Expertise in stereotactic brain surgery and behavioural analyses of rodents. 

- Experience of work with human postmortem brain tissue.
