WHAT UTOPIANS DO

We are building a better world for music with innovative big data technology that tracks online music sources and translates them into meaningful music consumption reports for royalty collection. The solution we’re building does not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection.

WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL BE

As a business analyst in the strategy team at Utopia Music your everyday tasks will vary greatly. The strategy team sits at the heart of Utopia Music and it is our job to ensure that all our great business units are aligned with each other and get the help they need to excel. This is done through analysing and understanding the music industry and relating this to Utopia Music’s offerings to ensure that we are on track, or evaluate opportunities for growth and improvement. Improvement and growth can be achieved through either a focused effort internally, or through acquisitions of assets or companies - both are the responsibility of the strategy team to identify.

Thus, as a business analyst in the strategy team, it is important to be a fast learner, think creatively (we are, after all, changing an entire industry!), be meticulous, and have a keen eye for numbers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assisting the strategy team in executing the team’s mission toward the rest of the organization.
- Assist in developing, evaluating, and closing acquisitions to strengthen Utopia Music’s core assets and offerings.
- Assisting in the preparation of presentation material to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist senior team members with analyses and presentations.
- Building analysis and forecast models on companies to be acquired/integrated.
- Continually ensure that documentation, such as financial models and cash flow analyses, are up to date and accurate.
- Understanding and keeping track of market activity to provide a base for valuation metrics.
- Drafting marketing documents such as Confidential Information Memorandums and investor presentations.
- Analysing company performance on an absolute and relative basis.


THE IDEAL SKILLSET

- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- 1-3 years of work experience within consulting, a strategy department, or M&A focused area/company.
- A solid understanding of financial statements, financial analysis, and company valuation.
- An eye for detail to ensure material produced is of high quality.
- Sound judgement and decision making.
- Innovation-minded and fast learner for on-the-job training.
- Methodical and determined in your approach to problem solving.
- Advanced level of written and spoken English.
- Proactive attitude and ability to maintain focus while working with voluminous tasks and under pressure.
- Understanding of technology is meriting.
- Humour and a positive attitude - we are about to change the world of music!

- We are supporting work permits for employees that moved here from countries outside the EU. However, we do not support relocation at the moment. Our remote policy allows employees flexible remote work but we don't hire outside Sweden.
