The International School of Helsingborg has provided a truly international education levels since 1995. Today, we have approximately 850 students between 2 and 19 years of age, across all programmes. We are an IB Continuum school, with the International Baccalaureate curriculum for all program levels. English is the primary language of the school.

Tasks
Our current career guidance counsellor will be on maternity leave during school year 2021-22. Therefore, we are seeking someone to continue her great work during her absence.

A career guidance counsellor acts as a dependable, informative mentor for our students with diverse personalities, interests, aptitudes and future plans. You guide students both individually and in groups. In your roll you work equally with both our DP (Gy1-3)  and MYP students (År 6-9). 

You inform about the high school selection process, school systems, job market and work life both to students and families.You confer with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to discuss student's progress. You answer questions about the school and its programmes from prospective students and their families. You respond to questions other schools may have about our programmes.

A key component of the role is supporting students through the university application process. Students at ISH apply commonly to universities in Sweden and many other countries worldwide. You are expected to be very knowledgeable about career preparation in order to provide advice regarding education and/or employment options as well as about application routines for universities worldwide. Therefore, it's crucial that you have close contact with universities, keep up-to-date with various programmes and participate in educational fairs. 

You help motivate and coach students into further education, introduce students to extracurricular activities and help them use college resources. Other areas you may help students with include developing good study habits and time management. 

Qualifications
You possess a Bachelor degree of Arts in Study and Career Guidance. 

You have work experience within a middle & high school environment as a career guidance counselor. 

You have excellent skills with modern digital technology and programmes. Preferably, you have experience of IB softwares but not a requirement. Working in an international environment, it is essential that you feel very comfortable using English as your daily work language and speak the language fluently. You will also need a very good knowledge of the Swedish language in order to support student applications to Swedish high schools and universities.

You are a strong team player and have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and parents. You communicate proactively; support and care for others and have strong communications skills. You are a positive and service minded person with a flexible approach to work. You enjoy working with people and demonstrate an interest in and understanding of others.
