Software Factory at Volvo Cars
“We drive CI to accelerate development without brakes”
At Software factory we are building a community with highly skilled personnel. We are harmonizing the workflows and developing tools to be used across R&D, with the aim to accelerate the software development at Volvo Cars. We are responsible for:
• Developing continuous integration (CI) architecture & infrastructure.
• Maintaining the complete software build and CI flow.
• Enabling high utilization of infrastructure, test objects and test artefacts.
• Creating automated tools & applications to secure an efficient flow.
• Supporting traceability to fulfill all legal requirements.
We are applying manufacturing principles and techniques to software development to mimic benefits of traditional manufacturing and creating a software product line. To ensure configuration management strategies in our SW Factory we are looking for an experienced, driven Configuration Manager who wants to make an impact.
What you will you do
As a CM Architect you will work with configuration identification, change management, configuration status accounting, configuration verification review and CM audit. You will work with and have a great impact on; processes, projects, baselines, builds, specifications, reports, tests, quality, versions, changes, tools, scripts, releases etc. All that is needed to get a good implementation of Configuration Management and to have a working Software Factory at Volvo Cars R&D. You will support and coach the development teams across R&D.
• Support Software Factory in our CI/CD projects with Configuration Management knowledge.
• Drive projects where Configuration Management is used to fulfill legal requirements, and quality requirements.
• Engaging with strategic, Volvo Cars R&D, projects to ensure Configuration Management is included.
• Create processes, and standards, to support Configuration Management at Software Factory, or as a part of the Configuration Management network at Volvo Cars R&D.
• Building strong relationship in the developer community
• Take part in the daily Software Factory work, with scripts, branching, source code, builds, baselines, documentation etc.
• Help to capture demand, trends etc. from development teams.
• Mentoring the organization on Configuration Management, policies, and procedures.
Required qualifications/skills
• M.Sc. in Electrical and/or Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar relevant experience.
• At least 10 years of experience from working in the field of software development, preferably at least 3 years with Configuration Management.
• Excellent communications skills, both verbally and in text. Fluent in English language.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
Meritorious
• DevOps/CI experience, working with automation, infrastructure, tooling, and developer workflows.
• Experience within Automotive and from working in an international environment.
• Hands-on experience from software development/programming.
• Driver’s license (B-Level)
• A passion for software and cars
