Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals AB, Cellulosic Specialties, headquartered in Stenungsund, Sweden, is responsible for the development, production and marketing of water-soluble cellulose derivatives.Our products AKUCELL, BERMOCOLL, BERMODOL, DEPRAMIN, PERIDUR, STAFLO, GABROIL, and GABROSA are sold to a wide range of applications; mainly building, food & healthcare, mining, oilfield and paint.
Research and development are carried out in Stenungsund and Arnhem, the Netherlands.Sales and Technical service centers are situated in Stenungsund, Arnhem/Amersfoort, Singapore and Brewster, NY, USA.The production sites are located in Arnhem, Novara, Italy and Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.

Colloid and surface chemist

This is a temporary position for one year on a full time basis within the R&D Specialist group in Stenungsund.

The R&D department of Cellulosic Specialties serves the business with product development, application & business development and technical support for our two main technologies EHEC and CMC.Our R&D facilities are located in Stenungsund and Arnhem.

The main tasks of the position will be to participate, as a colloid chemistry expert, in a research program on flocculation phenomena in general, and pigment flocculation in particular.You will be responsible for the design of advanced physical chemistry measurements on polymer particle interaction as well as the practical laboratory work.Since we have limited instrumentation available for these measurements some experimental work has to be done at universities or research institutes.You will have the responsibility for maintaining and further developing the external network of contacts that is required for the measurements.

We are looking for a person with the following background;

.PhD or Lic in Surface Chemistry or Master in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering plus several years' experience in advanced surface chemistry or paint evaluation work
.Good analytical and organic chemistry knowledge
.Fluent in spoken and written English and good IT skills
.Experience within experimental design and multivariate data analysis, (Chemometrics) is an advantage
