The Stockholm Environment Institute is a dynamic and expanding workplace that employs around 110 people from 28 different nationalities in an activity-based office in central Stockholm (Garnisonen), and with an additional 200 employees in centres around the world.
The role
The Communications Officer will support the Stockholm Sustainable Finance Centre (SSFC) based at SEI HQ on a 50% basis. The successful candidate will deliver the communications strategy through tasks such as writing and managing online content, including social media, text, photo and video editing, news stories and blogs about research results and upcoming policy decisions, creating videos and podcasts with project stakeholders and planning and moderating events.
In addition to the responsibilities described above, the Communications Officer will work with colleagues across SEI to ensure that our research is informing relevant decision makers.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Partner with research project leaders to deliver communications requirements during project life cycle
Create communications activity plans for research and policy engagement projects, drawing upon advice from other specialists in communications team
Co-writing of reports and publications with the research staff
Support management of the SSFC website
Coordinate all communication activities within projects, initiatives and events, including leading administration and planning of regular board meetings.


Who you are
As a person, you are a strong project manager and possess a good ability to initiate and drive tasks and ideas forward. You are inspired by and can engage a broader audience in the areas of environment and development. You transform scientific information into impactful and simple messages. You will need good knowledge of development and climate finance research and the policy landscape, how it operates and who the key players are.
Formal qualifications and knowledge
Degree in communications, marketing, journalism or minimum of 3 years' communications background with broad knowledge of communication channels
Knowledge and expertise in field of at least one of the following topics: finance for sustainable development/in developing countries, climate finance, Industrial/just transitions, environmental policy, agriculture and food security, climate and/or stakeholder engagement
Fluency in Swedish and English
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is required.

A bonus if the candidate also brings:
Experience with stakeholder engagement with the ability to navigate within different policy contexts
Experience in working in a developing country
A contact network within sustainable finance/finance
Experience with project management or Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL).

Personal skills required in the position
Strong interpersonal and communicative skills with a collaborative approach
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to set priorities.
