We are recruiting for a Communications Officer to support research projects and strategic policy engagement work with a focus on finance for sustainable development and climate finance at SEI Headquarters.


Location: Stockholm, Sweden
Start date: April – May 2020
Deadline: 01 March 2020, 23:59 CET


The Communications Officer (CO) will deliver communication strategy for the different projects within the portfolio and deliver on the action plans which translates into outputs such as: writing news stories and blogs about research results and upcoming policy decisions, social media posting, videos/podcasts with project stakeholders and planning and moderating events.


In addition to the responsibilities described above, this person will work with colleagues across the Institute to make sure that our research related to climate finance and climate change is informing relevant decision makers.


Key duties and responsibilities include:
Partner with the research Project Leaders to deliver the communication requirements during the life cycle of the projects
Create communication activity plans for the research and policy engagement projects, drawing upon advice from other specialists in the communications team
Coordinate all communication activities within the projects, initiatives and events
Develop content within different communication channels
Evaluate the outcomes of communications in the projects
Monitor policy developments in the area of development and climate finance, identify and help seize windows of opportunity for engagement and communication.



Who you are
We are looking for a person with hands-on experience of communication work such as writing for the web including social media, text, photo and video editing as well as moderating workshops and high level events. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is required. As a person you are a strong project manager and possess a natural ability to initiate and drive tasks and ideas forward. You are inspired by and can engage a broader audience in the areas of environment and development. You transform scientific information into impactful and simple messages. You will need good knowledge of development and climate finance research and the policy landscape, how it operates and who the key players are.


Required qualifications and experience
A minimum of 7 years’ communications background with a broad knowledge of communication channels
Experience with stakeholder engagement with the ability to navigate within different policy contexts
Experience with moderating different events and workshops
You must be fluent in both written and spoken Swedish with a good command of the English language, and able to produce content and present in both languages.



Ideally, the candidate will also bring:
Experience within the field of finance for sustainable development and climate finance communication and stakeholder engagement.
