Cooling SystemsExpert

We are looking for a Cooling System Expert to strengthen our Cooling system Engineering team. The team is responsible for power train thermal management, part in the climate thermal management, and part in the management of battery thermal management. The role

As an expert you will have responsibility for setting the overall system performance and operation for the powertrains. In the scope of work you will analyze market trends within thermal management new component developments on the market and turn them over into possible product application in the future powertrain installations.

Important early project phase tasks are breaking down complete vehicle demands considering engines, transmissions, batteries, electric propulsion, climate demands into requirements for the cooling system circuits. You will be in charge of setting the requirements for the behavior of the powertrain cooling circuits and thermal performance of individual components.  

Responsibilities and tasks

- Driving and developing system requirement alignment across Geely Auto and Volvo Cars, into one common set of requirements.
- Developing system design solutions based on Geely Auto and Volvo Cars best practice to meet new requirements.
- Creating, developing and maintaining system circuit layouts for all powertrain installations.
- Contacting suppliers in order to challenge technology development, evaluating technologies, supplier competency and technical products.
- In cooperation with team develop test methods and best practice validation methods to ensure robustness of the products in the cooling circuit throughout required product lifetime.
- Defining concepts for testing, developing testing methods and monitoring system testing and validation of complete vehicle demands.
- Leading, coordinating and developing the Global functional team in Sweden and China.
- Updating and establishing requirements of the commodity / component in CEVT's system.
- Collaborating with other units of the Powertrain Integration in terms of calibration and verification, and monitor activities to reach agreed targets.
- Request, lead, and participate in the required performance system simulation work to ensure that chosen component solutions match the vehicle environment for the different cooling circuits (climate, charge air cooling, engine cooling, battery cooling).
- Participate in the supplier selections.
- Support to resolve system circuit and performance issues in development projects.
- Support system engineers in development projects.

 

Requirements:

- M.Sc. in mechanical engineering. Firm academic background in thermal dynamics.
- Minumum 10 years experience of automotive development.
- Well documented experience of complex cooling system set-up within automotive.Well documented expertise of cooling system development for AC circuits, engine coolant circuits, and charge air circuits
- Well documented experience of heat exchanger technologies, fan system technologies, pump technology, expansion tanks, valves, thermostats, air separators available on the market and development trends of the products.
- Excellent in co-operation, networking, team working.
- Fluent in English both written and spoken
- Experience of setting up, execute and making use of CFD simulations, 1D simulations to establish requirements for circuits and components.
- Flexible and structured
- Strong drive and be able to work independently
- You have an openness and awareness of Asian, European and foreign cultures.
