We are committed to accelerating our digital transformation, and we're seeking a Data Governance Lead to play a crucial role in ensuring top-tier data governance across the organization.

As part of the enterprise architecture team, your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and manage a comprehensive Data Governance framework tailored to our organization's needs. Working closely with business leaders and data owners, you will foster a culture of data governance awareness, develop training programs to boost data literacy, and continuously monitor and improve the effectiveness of the Data Governance framework. 

 

Job duties 

As a Data Governance Lead you are the IT representative responsible for the governance and safeguarding of our valuable data assets. You'll be a part of our enterprise architecture team and the main stakeholder for governance across the enterprise, as well as enabling various data enablement workgroups across various business functions. 

You'll lead strategies to ensure data reliability, accessibility, and security across distributed data domains, while crafting policies, standards, and procedures to maintain data integrity and compliance within our analytical and operational ecosystems. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will establish governance frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, and trust in data usage. You'll also develop procedures for capturing and managing metadata, ensure adherence to data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and identify data-related risks. 

You will define, implement, and maintain data policies to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient data management, designing processes to reduce manual efforts and establish clear accountabilities. Additionally, you will conduct audits to monitor progress and communicate data policies across all organizational levels to drive data fluency. 

Our tech stack still varies from team to team, but for data platform we are mainly focused on the Azure stack, (among the services used are Azure Auto ML, Azure ML Ops, Data Bricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Azure DevOps CI/CD, Microsoft Power and Power BI etc). Our RPA team primarily work with UIPath and the Microsoft Power Platform. 

We prefer to work agile, and our unit applies a pragmatic approach to SAFe to resolve dependencies and set the pace for development, but we choose the appropriate approach for the product and team. 

Your profile 

You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) and bring over 5 years of experience in data governance or data management, preferrably within the logistics or supply chain industry. You have a strong understanding of data governance principles and frameworks (e.g., DAMA) and are well-versed in data privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA, with experience implementing compliance measures. You have deep understanding of data governance and management practices including metadata management, data ownership and stewardship, data lineage, data quality, data contracts/sharing agreements, and data tagging. 

Your excellent communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively across teams, you should be able to work independently and as part of a team and meet deadlines. 

Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written), able to target content to fit the audience, both executive and operational, technical and non-technical. You are proficient in data architecture, engineering, and management technologies, with hands-on experience in cloud platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, data streaming technologies, and governance tools. Additionally, your strong analytical skills and attention to detail set you apart in problem-solving and decision-making.
