As Design Engineer within Engine Engineering Strategy and Concepts you will be responsible for concept and advanced engineering design and design studies within engine engineering. You will be a part of a team that is developing new engines, maintaining an engine and fuel strategy for Volvo cars and deliver exhaust after treatment systems for all VCC engines. You work closely together with advanced engineering leaders, concept leaders and designers of base engine and dressed engine but also technical experts within especially combustion system and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) calculation. All items you design and studies you perform are part of a system. It is important to communicate with colleagues responsible for affected areas to ensure functionality of the system and to create a design that fits and is feasible for industrialisation. This function fulfills a core-competence role within our department since you will be responsible to realise the desires, thoughts and ideas of our technical experts and advanced engineering leaders with a functional design. Beside this we want you to be proactive in advanced engineering concerning new design opportunities with future materials and manufacturing technologies to save engine weight and parts.

With this exciting task you work cross functional within engine engineering and powertrain, with both diesel and gasoline technologies. You will therefore have the opportunity to develop and maintain extensive engine knowledge and really contribute to a better environment and customer satisfaction. One of our key deliveries is to lead engine related advanced engineering and to lead section related technologies towards different engine programs in the concept phase. We are a team with an innovative spirit and a great experience of engine development in which the right candidate can further develop.

Main responsibilities
· Engine advanced engineering design
· Realize a combustion system design according to the requirements set by the combustion system responsible
· Realize prototype cylinder-heads for single cylinder testing
· Perform design related tasks for engine advanced engineering
· Ensure functionality/feasibility of final advanced engineering design within the engine/vehicle program
· Lead engine design advanced engineering

Required qualifications
· You have minimum a B.Sc. in engineering
· You have experience from engine engineering, a minimum of 5 years.
· You have good knowledge of CAD and Catia V5
· You are fluent in English (written and spoken)
· You have a valid driver´s license
· Experience and knowledge of advanced engineering, material science, manufacturing and fluid mechanics is meritorious
