Your mission
As our next Design Engineer, you're part of a small, yet global team of four product specialists within different given areas. You work closely together with the R&D department on specific projects and issues – sharing knowledge and exchanging experience to reach best practices. Your role is to take the lead on new product recommendations and implementations, mainly regarding design. You're responsible for the current product engineering, new product development and research technology development projects. You interact with many stakeholders regarding creating prototypes, testing, and doing experiments. Planning, executing, and communicating innovative ideas and improvements are on your agenda; this involves handling deadlines, budget, and quality assurance to ensure that the project meets the demands and results of the organization. On top of this, you support our manufacturing and business in questions and issues regarding our existing technologies.

The work location is at our site in Sandviken, Sweden. To learn more about the customer journey and our products, this job involves the opportunity to visit our customers at their sites to build your own global network. So, during normal circumstances, international travel is included in the role.

Your character
We’re looking for someone with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a couple of years of relevant work experience from product development, manufacturing and application area. To succeed in this position, you need good knowledge in design engineering fundamentals, material and manufacturing process involved in making the drill string tool products. You’re skilled in CAD and comfortable working with Siemens NX & Team Center and it’s a big plus if you’re familiar with simulation analysis. Since we operate in a global environment, you need excellent communication skills in English, and for this position we find it beneficial to be skilled in Swedish or Spanish.

Your attitude is very important to us! Independently driving improvements is something that really gets you going, and you thrive when being involved in several cross-functional projects. You have solid and proven problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills and your can-do attitude allows you to adapt to changing environments quickly. Being tech-savvy with a knack for innovation, you identify new and efficient solutions that bring us a competitive advantage in the market. Collaboration with both your internal community and our global network of customers and partners is key in this position, hence your team spirit, stakeholder management experience, and communicative skills come in handy. You gladly share your knowledge and influence others to share best practices, using your open mind and curiosity to learn and develop – pushing us to act outside the box!
