Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT) is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a world-leading manufacturer of high-value-added products in advanced stainless steels and special alloys for the most demanding industries, many within the energy sector. Tube’s service business is a new and growing organization that is part of Sandvik Materials Technology’s (SMT) growth initiative, working with technical services, production-related services and special added operations. We offer both products and services with the aim of becoming a stronger supplier and providing our customers with excellent support in the use of our solutions.

We are expanding the service business by introducing Intelligent Tube Systems and, as part of this expansion, we are currently looking for a technically skilled and business-driven Development Leader to join us in Sandviken. You will take part in our new offering, in which we supply a system that can monitor important parameters in industrial applications. The purpose of this new offering is sales growth, but also to position SMT in a new business segment for the future. JOB SUMMARY
As Development Leader, you are actively involved in the success of expanding our new business within Intelligent Tube Systems by contributing with your technical expertise. It is your job to ensure that optimal technical solutions are developed and/or chosen, and you work with concepts, analyses and ideas based on our customers’ requirements and needs. You maintain close collaboration with both internal and external resources and have the overall responsibility to identify and maintain contact with the best partners for different technical solutions. You also define and acquire the internal resources needed for development. Additionally, you are accountable for our patent strategy and the activities related to our patent work.

As part of this position, you participate in marketing and sales activities connected to Intelligent Tube Systems, which may include visits to prospective customers and involvement in trade shows. Since this is a new business area, we also expect you to actively engage in the development of new system offerings and the department’s continuous improvement process.

Some travel will be required in this position, both domestic and international.

We are looking for someone with a Master of Science in Electronics, Applied Physics, Computer Science or other relevant field. You have preferably worked in the steel industry and, as Intelligent Tube Systems is a technically complex and diverse area, it is necessary to have broad technical knowledge. You have experience from as many of the following areas as possible: strain or temperature measurements, statistical data analysis, Internet of Things, Cloud Services, electronics development and sensor technology. Practical experience from building sensor-controlled systems is a definite plus, as is experience from both production and customer interaction and from working with patents. Finally, you are fluent in Swedish and English, both in speaking and in writing.
