Strategy & Business Ownership (S&BO) is an organization within Volvo Cars responsible for product strategy and business ownership, from the initial concept to end of life of the products. We do business development and offer optimization to maximize the profitability of our products.
Within S&BO, the Digital Business unit is responsible for strategy, business ownership, and long-term planning for digital products and offers. 

Who we are 
All new Volvo cars are connected cars, and we use cloud solutions to improve range, safety, and reliability of our cars, to offer real time traffic in the navigation system, and to enable our customers to stream Spotify during their drive.

We believe we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg of the values that connectivity can bring to our vehicles. 

We are now looking to strengthen the team with a Director Connectivity Strategy, reporting directly to the Head of Digital Business. This role is focused on defining the path for future connectivity, and leading Volvo Cars towards a profitable business as ecosystems evolve and new business models take shape. Opportunities that lay within this role are establishing scenarios for future global connectivity and deriving strategies and key action plans from those. As well as prioritizing platform capabilities and functions vs investments, resources, and product cost. You will work alongside experts in service development and digital experience, R&D, and IT; identify needs and trends in connectivity, and translate that into priorities and investments for platform development. You must understand and leverage new business opportunities and models enabled by developments in connectivity technology. 

Your mission
Within this role your responsibilities and deliveries are to define strategic direction for Volvo Cars' connectivity platform, inside and outside of the vehicle. This includes defining the cycle plan (long term, high level roadmap) for need and capabilities for connectivity solutions, in car and in cloud and to drive priorities and investments needed to deliver on that plan. Map out Volvo Cars' wanted position in a future mobile network services ecosystem and establish strategic roadmap to reach that position. You will also monitor (through IT and Finance resources) data traffic cost, and suggest and implement measures (technical, offer, sourcing, etc.) to improve profitability. To succeed you will evangelize and inspire other parts of Volvo Cars (powertrain, interior, aftermarket, etc.) on how to utilize connectivity to improve profitability. You are a strong communicator with the ability to prepare, present, and recommend strategic directions to executive management.

This is a key role of the Digital Business unit is to drive change, and to translate vision into concrete direction and actions.

You and your skills
•    Academic degree in Engineering or Finance.
•    At least eight years of experience from leadership roles in telecom, connected devices, IoT, or similar area.
•    Analytical, financial, and business acumen.
•    In-depth understanding and interest in connectivity and network solutions.
•    Fluent in English, both verbally and written skills.
•    Strong verbal, writing, and presentation communication skills.
•    Strong leadership skills, and demonstration of the aspired leadership culture of Volvo Cars.
