Mid Sweden University, at the Department of Engineering and Sustainable Development, is seeking applicants for the following post Doctoral student Ecotechnology and Environmental Science Ref.No.MIUN 2008/1116 Job description: The efficiency of forest resources use can be improved through co-production of several products.In biorefineries, various kinds of bioresources can be used to co-produce energy services (such as electricity, transportation fuel, pellets and district heating) and material products such as wood and fiber products and bio-based chemicals.The successful candidate will use the system analysis concept to compare energy, carbon and economic efficiency of various biorefinery co-production systems.With new technologies for bioenergy conversion and new methods of forest management which increase forest productivity, there is also a need to develop efficient systems for the harvesting and transport of different biomass grades.The candidate will analyze how the choice of technological and logistical solutions for recovery and transport of forest resources influences efficient use of biomass resources, taking into account factors such as forest productivity, scale of operation, and transport distances.
