PhD student in developing electronics cooling materials and process technology.

Three PhD students to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish electronics industry
Chalmers has received funding for a project with the ultimate goal to strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish electronics industry by improving three important areas: Electronic system design, Electronic packaging and Production and Productivitiy analysis.

One PhD student is wanted for each of these areas.
The PhD student will conduct research within their own areas in existing research groups as well as work together as a new cross-disciplinary team.
This project, "Integrated electronics products design and production for high-cost countries", is funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).

The Department of Materials and Manufacturing Technology consists of six research groups and has a total staff of around 60 persons.The research activities span from basic research on nanostructural materials to product- and process related issues within materials and manufacturing technology.

The PhD student will work with a detailed mapping of the prerequisites for cost effective electronic design and manufacturing.Research conducted at Chalmers has resulted in a method ,Productivity Potential Assessment (PPA), which has been successfully used in the manufacturing industry.
This project will take PPA one step further and aims at including design and market considerations in a new methodology which will give the foundation for a more comprehensive analysis of the electronics industry.

This position requires a Masters degree in Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering or an equivalent degree.
The candidate must have a strong interest in production systems and work experience from production, especially electronics industry, is considered an additional qualification.
Good knowledge of both English and Swedish is required for this position.

The work of this PhD student position consists of 80% research and 20% teaching, and the salary is based on the existing employment agreement for PhD student positions at Chalmers.
