DOKTORAND i Geobiosfärsvetenskap

Verksamhetsbeskrivning:
Vid Naturvetenskapliga fakulteten bedrivs forskning och utbildning inom vetenskapsområdena biologi, datavetenskap, fysik, geovetenskap, kemi, matematik och miljövetenskap. Verksamheten bedrivs vid 13 institutioner samlade inom norra universitetsområdet. Fakulteten har ca 1700 studenter, 440 forskarstuderande och 800 anställda.

Research and education is carried out in the following major areas: biology, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, physics and mathematics. These areas are then divided into a great number of sub-disciplines organized into about 40 sections. The faculty is organized into 13 departments gathered within the northern University Campus.
Undergraduate studies include both a general programme and subject courses. Bachelor and Master's Degrees can be taken in the following majors: biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, physics, physical geography, geology, mathematics and molecular biology. The extent of a Ph.D. programme correspond to four years of study. Annually about 80 doctor's degrees are awarded in 32 different disciplines.
The Faculty of Science has a strong international profile both on undergraduate and research level. The faculty participates in many European exchange programmes for students, such as Socrates, Tempus, EU-Canada and EU-US. Within Scandinavia the faculty takes part in the Nordplus programme and has a bilateral faculty agreement with the University of Copenhagen. On research level the faculty also participates with a large number of projects in EU's framework programmes.
