SEI HQ and SEI Asia are recruiting for an Editor to support a range of publications projects and the SEI publications workflow to edit and produce SEI publications. The position presents an opportunity to join a leading international research institute in Stockholm or Bangkok and ensure high-quality written material through editing, writing and workflow management.

Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) is a dynamic expanding workplace that employs around 110 people from 28 different nationalities in an activity-based office in central Stockholm (Garnisonen) and an additional 200 employees in centres around the world.
The role
We are recruiting an Editor to support a range of publications projects and the SEI publications workflow to edit and produce SEI publications. The position presents an opportunity to join a leading international research institute in Stockholm, Sweden or Bangkok, Thailand and ensure high-quality written material through editing, writing and workflow management. The Editor role will be divided between editing SEI publications and other editorial outputs, supporting the production of major publication projects, including the annual report, and coordinating the workflow of the global publications team. Professional development and creativity are highly encouraged.
Our communication activities as a whole are strategic and agenda-setting and make research insights accessible and actionable. We place emphasis on knowledge synthesis and reaching key international policy audiences, using our global presence to develop narratives and ground our engagement in local needs and help our partners tell their stories. Traditional communication products are complemented with tools and services that enable practitioners to apply knowledge directly to their decision-making or deliberation processes.
Key duties and responsibilities
Maintain production schedules (working with in-house editors, authors, freelance editors and designers)
Edit scientific texts and proofs, ensuring alignment with our house style
Project managing large projects such as the annual report and other major outputs incorporating budget management
Publish content in the website CMS
Develop SEI’s publication and editorial formats and modes of delivery
Capacity building in writing, publications and other editorial outputs
Support the work of the global publications team and the publication production process
Promote SEI’s published outputs through relevant channels, especially social media.

Formal qualifications and knowledge
Academic degree in communications, English, journalism or other relevant field
At least five years’ experience in communications, digital publishing or journalism, with a focus on editing, editorial production and writing, ideally in a scientific or academic field
Excellent project leadership skills demonstrated through tangible outputs
English speaker with outstanding written and oral communication skills in English for both technical and public audiences
Experience working on complex projects together with multiple stakeholders
Excellent copy editing and proofreading skills
Good science writing skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, referencing tools, CMS, PDF production and digital publishing
Proficiency with InDesign and layout highly desirable
Experience working in a diverse and multinational and multicultural environment.

Effective communication skills and strong relationship management
Ability to set priorities under pressure
Enthusiastic to work within and help develop an expanding digital workflow system
Flexible and upbeat attitude to the job and working with a like-minded team.
