You will be creating and executing designs for engineering solutions as part of the Traction team in Motors in Västerås, Sweden. This includes drawings, calculations, bill of materials, engineering instructions and processes. Reporting to the design manager, your skills and technical expertise will contribute to a variety of design projects.


Your responsibilities
It is important that you want to strive towards our goal to give our customers world-class technical support in terms of timely and complete answers.
In the quotation process you will be responsible for supporting our sales teams to find most suitable product by establish, analyze and evaluate electrical and thermal designs, based on customer requirements.
In order project, you will be responsible for deliver optimal solutions that meet customer requirements with the right quality on time and right cost. In addition, ensure that internal design and manufacturing rules are followed. Define, lead and evaluate tests to verify the electrical design.
Evaluate if and how applicable standards can be fulfilled during offering and project execution.
Contribute to continuous improvement through learning, developing working methods and calculation tools, including lead and drive testing development to verify electrical design.



Your background
To suit this role, you need to have a solid interest in technology and have personal leadership skills.
You hold a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on electrical power and rotating electrical machines, or equivalent. Alternatively, you hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, combined with several years of work experience from rotating electrical machinery.
As part of a global organization, fluency in written and spoken English is a must.
On a personal level you are open minded and always strive to understand customer requirements and to find the best possible solution, based on our unique concepts.
Experience from vehicles with electric motors and system knowledge with electric motors and inverters are meritorious.
You distinguish yourself with an analytical mind and an ability to make sound decisions regarding technical solutions and a helpful and service-minded attitude.

ABB Traction Motors Sweden is responsible for the sale, order design and manufacturing of traction motors. Today we are approximately 10 people working in the order engineering team for railway and e-mobility products. Our customers are mainly train manufacturers or propulsion system providers supplying vehicles for different applications such as locomotives, high-speed trains, regional trains, metros, tramways and heavy electrical vehicles for off road.
