Engineering Director - Minecraft

We are looking for an Engineering Director to be part of the Vanilla Minecraft team in Stockholm. The Minecraft team keeps expanding to help realize the dream of a better Minecraft experience, a game enjoyed by over 100,000,000 players worldwide. We have big dreams for the future of Minecraft and our studio and need your help making them happen!
As an Engineering Director at Mojang you will be a senior member of the Engineering organization and be a part of setting the studios Technical Strategy and own the technical strategy for Minecraft. Working with the Executive Producer and the Game Director, you will help shape the future of one of the world’s most popular games!
We work in cross-functional game teams where you will shape the engineering part through setting direction as well as developing the team by recruitment and coaching as well as advocating and living our values. You will lead a team consisting of Engineering Managers and a Tech Director. This role reports to Head of Game Engineering.
Responsibilities
Hiring, coaching and growing your org, drive impact through others.
Create a high performing culture based on trust.
Organizational design, including budget input and capacity allocation across areas.
Lead the tech org when it comes to technical health including paying back tech debt and building with quality.
Ensuring our tech is architecturally sound and scalable.
Accountable for tech vision and strategy within your area as well as actively contributing to overall Mojang Tech strategy.
Take active part in your areas business strategy to ensure our tech can support the business.
Identifying technical areas for collaboration with Mojang as well as the wider Xbox organization.

Requirements
You love leading and developing people and have a proven track record leading leaders.
You have extensive experience as an Engineer prior to becoming an Engineering leader.
You have a deep understanding of how to translate product and business goals into tech strategies.
You have experience helping developers towards delivering timely, high-quality products together with them.
You have solid experience working in an agile development environment.
You have experience from the games industry and have probably been part of shipping a couple of games in your past.
