Engineering Manager

About the position

At Refined, we are on a mission to help teams collaborate better. Our software turns native Confluence, Jira and Jira Service Management content into themed, easy-to-use intranets, service desks, issue trackers, knowledge bases and more

As an Engineering Manager you will be empowering, coaching and providing direction to our three growing engineering teams (currently ~15 people). As a leader you will be inspiring the cross-functional teams to innovate, get creative and build world class products. You will be mentoring engineers to develop their skills to the next level and to do what they do best. You’ll lead by example and help to cultivate and maintain a culture of ownership, user centricity and purpose.

We expect you to first and foremost genuinely care for working with people. Secondly we expect you to understand how software development works in an agile setting. We are looking for someone who already has experience from leading people in a similar context. Someone who wants to bring out the best in people. Someone with a positive and pragmatic approach to solving problems.

We are a growing company and we embrace change. We strongly believe that what we did a year ago might no longer be the right way to do things. We evaluate things and processes, identify challenges, fix, change and iterate. The pace is sometimes a bit fast, but the results are rewarding.

We put a lot of focus on quality and we take pride in things we ship out to customers. We work with realistic goals and don’t rush releases out the door. We aim to do things well.

What you'll need to succeed in this role

- Proficient in English, other languages are not required
- Thriving on a high level of autonomy
- Strong drive to identify challenges and an iterative approach to solving problems
- 2+ years experience in leading teams and managing people, preferable from a start up or a scale up
- 5+ years of experience from software engineering, preferably from SaaS
