Who we are and what we offer
Volvo Cars sustainability ambitions and priorities are defined into three areas where we aim to lead our industry. These are Climate Action, Circular Economy and Ethical and Responsible Business. At Sustainability Centre we are responsible for the climate impact of our products and setting the goals for how to fulfill the company sustainability goals. We need to Incorporate sustainability in everything we do and increase customer awareness and user experience to Sustainability.
As a Sustainability System Architect, you will work in a group with Sustainability Architects and Technical Specialists within the strategy team called Sustainability Architecture Team at Sustainability Center. The purpose of the Sustainability Architect is to secure that the vehicle programs, product streams, design, procurement and other stakeholders have knowledge on necessary actions for Volvo Cars to become industry leading in Climate Action, Circular Economy and Ethical and Responsible business. We do this by providing our knowledge to the programs, assist with creating capabilities and features connecting to our Epics and push technical product roadmaps to align with our sustainability ambitions. You will work closely with the development teams within Product Creation (R&D), but also with other parts of our global organization.
What you’ll do
As a System Architect (SA) you will work with stakeholders within and outside of Sustainability Centre to secure our organizational sustainability ambitions and priorities. You will be responsible to ensure implementation of Sustainability EPICs in our Product Streams and for developing features to support future needs. The System Architect should also support the development work within our Product Streams with regards to Sustainability.
Your main tasks:
• The System Architect is responsible for implementation of Sustainability Centre EPICs in close collaboration with the Product Streams, together with expert within Sustainability Centre.
• As System Architect you will develop SC features in VIRA in collaboration with stakeholders within and outside the attribute center to support our future sustainability needs.
• As System Architect you are responsible to support the product streams & complete vehicle engineering stream with sustainability input during the development work.
• As System Architect you are responsible to keep together Sustainability Centre deliveries, with focus up to PSF and PS gates.
• As System Architect (SA) you are responsible for our Sustainability Arena, Sustainability Book and other documents and common meetings.
You and your skills
To succeed in this role we believe that an engineering degree or environmental science degree is preferable, if you have done your theses or taken extra courses within sustainability it is even better. To have knowledge about circular economy, sustainable materials and/or LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) it is something we value.
We believe that you are a structured, analytical and performance driven individual with great leadership skills. You are flexible, willing to embrace challenges and you have the ability to operate in a frequently changing environment. To be successful in this role, you need to be persuasive and efficient in communicating with various stakeholders (including high-level management) and experienced in cross-functional negotiations/collaboration. Having an interest and the heart in sustainability is an advantage.
On a personal level, we believe that you are a visioner that loves to motivate others, but also a doer yourself. You have the ability to focus on what’s best for the planet and what works for the company: taking the next step while not losing sight of the bigger picture.
