Field Data Collection Driver

SUMMARY The Field Data Collection Driver works within the Global Field Operations organization driving a NAVTEQ vehicle that automatically collects map data. The primary function of the driver is to operate a NAVTEQ field data collection vehicle for extended periods by following pre-defined routes for field data collection or transporting vehicles between company locations or work sites, in a safe, timely and efficient manner. The driver monitors system performance, performs basic troubleshooting of onboard equipment and provides regular reporting of project status as required by their supervisor. The driver will be required to communicate regular reporting of project status to the supervisor or logistics planning contact. JOB DESCRIPTION Drive NAVTEQ field data collection vehicle on predefined routes Conduct a thorough pre-trip inspection of the equipment assigned in the manner prescribed by the Company and determine whether the equipment is functional and safe to operate Set-up and shut down vehicle equipment daily Update and report project status to supervisor on a daily and/or weekly basis Log and communicate downtime (weather/technical) to supervisor Shipping and receiving of data capturing hard drive Safely operate in different configurations as assigned under all types of climatic conditions, terrain, road conditions and traffic situations, in urban and rural settings for extended times over long distances either direct or by way of other intermediate points in accordance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations and Company policy Complying with NAVTEQ procedures and regulations including Driver Safety and ITAR (where applicable) Understands and carries out instructions given orally and in writing JOB QUALIFICATIONS High school degree Minimum age of 22 years old Valid Driver?s license Ability to use a map Basic understanding of computers Good communication skills Ability to operate independently performing a prescribed task Must enjoy urban and long distance driving ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Long driving days High profile driving (i.e., company signage on vehicles) Basic equipment setup Troubleshooting of vehicle and data capturing components Frequently away from home (possibly weeks)
