Location:  LPI’s Uppsala, Sweden office (potential to consider base in LPI’s Addis Ababa or Nairobi offices)
Form of employment: Full time (100%) 
Duration: 2 year general fixed-term employment, with possible extension 
Starting date: 1 May 2020 
The Finance and Administration Director (FAD) is a key member of the LPI strategic leadership team providing financial strategic decision making. Continue to enhance LPI’s quality programming and build capacity of LPI staff and partners in financial management.  S/He oversees LPI’s global finances and administration, keeping close track of all aspects of LPI’s financial health including:
Strategic Management: Responsible for the development and oversight of the long-term financial strategy of the Institute, including providing expert guidance and advice to the Executive Director, Strategic Leadership Team and the Board.
Financial Management: oversee all financial activities of the Institute - internal and external reporting, training finance staff, budgeting, audit management, cashflow and FX management. Reviewing, implementing and ensuring all staff are aware of and adhering to LPI’s financial policies and procedures.

·       Risk Management and Compliance: working closely with the Finance & Compliance Coordinator, ensure that the organisation has in place robust, compliant financial systems and procedures and that these are adhered to by all staff. With Executive Director, ensure LPI’s anticorruption policies and procedures are up to date and robust for the contexts where we operate.
Human Resources, Information and Communications Technology and Administration: Manage and build capacity of LPI Finance, Admin and HR staff in all offices. Line manage Uppsala staff and matrix manage Finance & Admin Managers in programme offices. Oversee Sharepoint Advisor.  Further develop LPI’s human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training and recruiting

About you
·       Minimum of a B.A. in Accounting/Finance and an ACCAA/CPA or Masters level in Accounting/Finance/MBA degree
·       At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6+ years of broad financial and operations management experience
·       Experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area, and has preferably overseen a human resources function previously
·       Experience from NGO and development cooperation work, preferably with field experience
·       Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with - programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
·       A track record in grants management
·       Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
·       Experience with a major financial accounting and reporting software (preferably SUN)
·       A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
·       Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
·       A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
·       Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of LPI
·       Language skills: proficiency in English. Swedish and French knowledge is desirable.
