Your role

As a Fire Safety Engineer, you will have an important role in the development of Saab Kockums' product portfolio, both submarines and surface ships, ensuring they are safe to operate from a fire safety perspective. You will perform challenging tasks while having the opportunity to create a broad network of contacts, providing insight into several areas such as holistic fire protection, requirements for extinguishing systems, design of fire preventing solutions, fire testing, and selection of materials.


Main tasks:

* Interpretation and application of fire safety regulations and standards, including coordination of work across the entire organisation to ensure harmonized application
* Participate in or lead team for alternative design based on functional requirements
* Coordinate and perform fire tests for non-standard design approval
* Perform various fire safety analysis and calculations for a highly complex product in an environment where multiple interdisciplinary requirements need to be considered, to ensure that an optimal fire safety solution is developed for the platform.
* Support the organization regarding any fire safety related questions
* Manage customer relations regarding fire safety issues
* Conduct training sessions to ensure continuous learning for the organisation.


Placement for the position is primarily Malmö, however we might be open for placement in Karlskrona. The role may involve some business travels, both within Sweden and abroad.


Your profile

We are looking for a fire safety professional who is curious, analytical, driven, outgoing and with the ability to understand complex technical systems in naval applications. You understand fire safety from a holistic perspective, as well as passive and active fire protection measures, the application of fire protection regulations on a complex product, and organizational fire protection. Since the role includes a large degree of interaction and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders you need to be able to build and develop long term relationships as well as being able to work with various kinds of people at all levels. We also see you as someone with leadership skills to help drive the development of fire safety within our organization.


Required skills:

* Engineering degree within Fire, Risk or Safety, alternatively other engineering degree combined with relevant experience from the fire safety field
* Excellent knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite
* Business level communication skills in Swedish and English, verbal and written


Desired skills:

* Experience in the application of requirements from safety regulations and standards, eg. SOLAS, FTP code etc.
* Experience/knowledge of Naval ships/Shipbuilding, Automotive, Train, Aviation, Nuclear, Process, or Oil & Gas industries


This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
